Twitter Essay

Before I started taking our digital journalism class, I had no idea what twitter contained for I had only used Facebook to communicate with friends. After using twitter throughout the quarter, I enjoyed twitter a lot. Just like Facebook, it was an effective way to communicate with friends, students, and professors. Continue reading

No Rain=Greater Seattle

Seattle is one of the best cities I have ever experienced. Though I have lived in Washington all my life, venturing out to Seattle was new. Especially the University of Washington. As this is only my third quarter, I have experience the sunny side of the UW campus and it is beautiful. Despite the rain and wind and even snow, Seattle is a great place to live. On a glorious sunny day, I walked around the University Ave and Brooklyn to find buildings that caught my attention. Here are only a few examples of these great buildings i get to see everyday while attending the University of Washington.

Life Near UW Campus

My goal was to capture a story near our UW campus. There are many activities going on around Seattle that don’t get enough attention. So I brought the attention to apartment buildings, roads, and construction because they individually hold something special. Photography was a bit challenging because most buildings looked alike, so I ended walking around to look for buildings that will attract people.

By doing this project, I learned that Seattle is bigger than I thought and more fun as well. You do not have to be an artist to appreciate the buildings and life in Seattle. I met my goals by finding the buildings that caught my eyes and hopefully will catch my viewer’s eyes. If I were to do this differently, I would go into different neighborhoods and go to downtown Seattle where life gets more interesting.

New Perspectives on Photoshooting

This 10-day photo project has opened my eyes to take photographs may different ways. I used my iPhone to take these pictures and it forced me to move closer to my object or desired photo. The quality of the zoom on the iPhone is not the best, so most of my photos were upclose. Though we had a certain subject to photograph each day, it was difficult choosing the right object and sometimes I would be lazy and not think things clear. I learned that photography helps you focus and use your mind in capturing a worthy photograph. If I were to do things differently, I would use my dslr. The quality turns out much better. Also I would use my brain more by angling my camera and using the rule of thirds more.
